Restless sleep with one eye open,
My darling, the needle skips on screams
That propels shivers into the dire tides of night
A chronology of last night’s survival
Hinged on fists which chimed in time
With unending repetition
A shotgun loaded with endless tear drops
A bathroom floor littered with pill bottle tops
So accept these two-faced flowers as a gentle reminder
That second chances hush a devotion incensed
And entrap a flurry of aiding cries to collapse?
A tapered sting to string along the thirst
A meager hint bared to convey
A certainty in buckled knees
As every ounce of “love” sears deep
Yet braced in stride with desire to divide
May honeyed years extend frayed wings
And set flight to savor refuge within
Soothing romances steeped in black eyed promises
Trace the scars to rekindle a time spent
Each movement filled and remembered
with soft voices and even gentler hands

A hell’s duration rapidly drank
From roots of wilted lovers sucking the nectar
Of common characteristics fastened at the weakest of ends
Filled with every day’s acceleration
Hardly grasping how to decide
What should be left alive
Torching remnants laid to rest
In an aching bed populated with
Faces of bindings and red tides
An endearing kiss of gift-wrapped exits
Were we not under the notion
That forever would canvass these eyes
Feel the swelling burden trickle down
Caressing dangling, woven hands
Licking them clean as a light shines in
That beneath this everyday exterior
Could lay so much denial and peril
So I swear by all fractured lips
And relative, bygone atonement
This is where strength can spring from
Through the holes in the hearts of our failures
My hand will be over yours
(What a stunning head rush
as we lap at the cup of remorse)
We’ll revel among the ruins
And bellow our broken song
And this will resound within you
Until that day we shall pass again

Of Hope and Anchor

Flinching to a rhythm of downhearted anthems
The letdowns come dressed in a sadder faith
Fawning for a temporary taste
Awe struck from what it took
To muster a lent hand
We offset the hints of reluctance
With impulsive plunges into waning caution
As captivating elation soars to bloom
We will find ourselves versed in indifference
Helpless to stall the approaching stumble
Stranded without remedy
For motives that can pivot in an instant
When hindsight fails to sway the crushing end
Lick the frost from her green-blue eyes
And swallow the essence that revives
And continue on as we may
For when I reach the next summit
Of fault and fracture
You are what i will always call home
Shining like the brilliance of hope and anchor
